Meet Toya Weaver

Psychology  Major |Alabama State University
Class of 2028

Toya Weaver is a sophomore Psychology major at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, where she continues to excel both academically and as a student leader. A proud graduate of Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia, Toya is known for her strong work ethic, leadership skills, and dedication to balancing academics with service and athletics.

At Alabama State, Toya maintains a 3.5 GPA and has been recognized with the Honors Award for her academic achievements. She is actively engaged in community service initiatives and is passionate about using her psychology studies to better understand mental health in marginalized communities.

During high school, Toya served as Cheer Captain for four consecutive years and was honored with multiple accolades, including MVP Cheerleader (2024)Superintendent Scholar/Athletic Award by Coca-Cola United, and recognition in the Top 10% of her graduating class. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, participated in dual enrollment, and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and as a Student Representative.

Professionally, Toya has built a solid foundation in customer service through her roles as a host at IHOP, where she efficiently managed large volumes of guests and improved wait times, and as a cashier at Popeyes, maintaining high accuracy and a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Toya is a highly motivated and focused scholar-athlete with a passion for people, purpose, and progress. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or in her community, she exemplifies perseverance, leadership, and the drive to make a difference.
