ALUMNI LEGACY BUILDERS

Dear HBCU Alumni Family,

On behalf of the Our HBCUs Matter Foundation, Inc., we are calling on our most vital resource: You.

We are officially inviting you to join the HBCU Alumni Legacy Builder Program. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between alumni excellence and student potential. By joining, you support the mission of the National College and Career Advising Center (NCCAC) and the Scholar Academy, ensuring our students have the roadmap they need to succeed.

How You Can Build the Legacy

This is a volunteer-based role designed for those who want to pour back into the HBCU ecosystem. We are seeking dedicated alumni to support our mission year-round through the following pillars:

1. Mentorship & The Scholar Academy

Directly impact our Scholar Academy students. As a mentor, you provide the “real world” perspective that textbooks can’t offer.

  • One-on-One Coaching: Guide a scholar through academic or career transitions.

  • Mock Interviews: Help students polish their pitch and build confidence.

  • Resume Reviews: Provide industry-specific feedback to make our scholars stand out.

2. NCCAC Volunteerism

The National College and Career Advising Center (NCCAC) is the engine of our career development efforts.

  • Panelists & Speakers: Share your journey on a “Life After the Yard” panel.

  • Workshop Facilitation: Lead a session on leadership, financial literacy, or industry trends.

  • Event Support: Assist with registration and logistics during our immersive 4-day Summit experiences.

3. Support & Fundraising

Help us keep these programs free and accessible for the 500+ students we serve annually.

  • Legacy Giving: Contribute to the foundation to fund scholarships and programming.

  • Corporate Connections: Help bridge the gap between your employer and our talented HBCU pool.

Our Commitment to Excellence: The Onboarding Process

To ensure the highest level of impact and safety for our students and scholars, all Legacy Builder applicants undergo a formal vetting process. As this is a high-impact volunteer role involving direct student engagement, the process includes:

  1. Initial Application: Tell us about your background and area of interest.

  2. Interview Process: A brief conversation to align your skills with our current needs.

  3. Background Check: Required for all volunteers to ensure a safe environment for our Academy Scholars.

Take Action Today

We invite you to “be the change” by completing the Legacy Builder Application. Please indicate your areas of interest (Mentoring, Volunteering, or Fundraising) within the form so we can begin the onboarding process.

Join us as we solidify the legacy of our institutions. We look forward to building with you.
