ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The My HBCU Matter Scholars Cohort is a multi-industry focused immersive educational experience for HBCU Undergraduate & Graduate level students which provides professional development, industry training, and networking; supported by our partners. Students & Partners will have year around engagement via virtual learning sessions and in-person activations at the multiple events.

HBCU SCHOLAR SELECTION CRITERIA & REQUIREMENTS

The selection criteria for the HBCU Scholars were created via our Scholar Rubric.

-3.0 GPA

-Recommendation from Dean/Director

-Must be a Undergraduate or Graduate Student at a HBCU

-Actively looking for an internship/employment

-Complete the HBCU Scholar Cohort Application

-Complete the HBCU Scholar Cohort Interview

-Complete the Professional Development Intensive Sessions

-Scholars are required to meet 2x a week (If you have a conflict you must submit the absence request form. 

-Required to attend in person events.

-Scholars must sign Scholar Program Agreement

-Maintain an upstanding image on social media and in-person. 

-Be a advocate and change agent for HBCUs

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Future of HBCUs Scholars Cohort is a 1 Year immersive educational experience for 9th-12th Grade Students who have interest in attending an HBCU. High School Scholars learn about college, are provided SAT/ACT enrichment, connected with collegiate and alumni mentors. Our program excels by implementing a comprehensive, multi-faceted program that includes a blend of in-person and online learning, regular academic support services, and a variety of educational resources as we support students and their families gain admission into college and develop their academic persistence. The Scholar Academic Achievement Plan will be based upon the students past, current academic ability, school transition assessment, and career focus.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLAR SELECTION CRITERIA

he selection criteria for the High School Scholars were created via our High School Scholar Rubric.

-2.5 GPA

-Direct Recommendation from High School Counselor or Teacher

-Attends Title I High School

-Must be within 9th-12th Grade

-Actively interested in attending an HBCU

-Complete the High School Scholar Cohort Application

-Complete the High School Scholar Cohort Interview

-Complete the College Readiness Development Intensive Sessions

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Our HBCUs Matter Legacy Builders Leadership Cohort is an immersive educational experience for HBCU Alumni which provides professional development, industry training, and networking, executive coaching and development, board and alumni training. Partners can network and connect with Alumni about their firms and organizations, discussing open positions and chances for progress. Legacy Builders mentor My HBCU Matters Scholars and support their HBCU Alumni Engagement Office as part of a cohort-created strategic project plan.

-HBCU Alumni

-5+ Years of work experience

-Actively looking for Employment

-Willing to Mentor HBCU Scholars

-Legacy Builder Cohort Application

-Complete the Legacy Builder Cohort Interview

-Complete the Leadership Development Intensive Sessions
