HBCU Votes Matter

“Empower the Legacy: HBCU Votes Matter Initiative” is a transformative program spearheaded by the Our HBCUs Matter Foundation, aimed at galvanizing voter engagement and participation within the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) community. This initiative recognizes the pivotal role that HBCUs play in shaping the political landscape and seeks to empower students, faculty, staff, and alumni to exercise their democratic rights through informed and active voting.

VOTER EDUCATION WORKSHOPS

We conduct voter education workshops to educate students about the importance of voting, the electoral process, and the impact of their votes. Provide information on candidates, ballot measures, and relevant political issues to help students make informed decisions at the polls.

ABSENTEE VOTING ASSISTANCE

Assist students who are unable to vote in person on Election Day by providing information and support for absentee voting. Help students navigate the absentee voting process, including requesting and submitting absentee ballots in accordance with state regulations.

GET-OUT-THE-VOTE CAMPAIGNS

We launch targeted get-out-the-vote campaigns to mobilize students to vote on Election Day. Utilize social media, campus outreach, and peer-to-peer networks to encourage voter turnout and emphasize the importance of each student’s voice in shaping the future.

VOTING RESOURCE HUB

Create a centralized online hub or resource center with information on voter registration, absentee voting, polling locations, and key election dates. Provide students with access to voter guides, sample ballots, and other resources to facilitate their participation in the electoral process.

HBCU VOTING-ALLIANCE

We have established a coalition or alliance of HBCUs committed to promoting voter engagement and advocacy efforts. Collaborate with other HBCUs to share best practices, coordinate initiatives, and amplify the collective voice of HBCU students in local, state, and national elections.

BECOME A SPONSOR

Our aim is to engage with Sponsors, Corporate Partners, and Donors who are committed to providing a wealth of opportunities for students, faculty, and alumni to partner with us so that we can continue to educate, engage, and expose the HBCU community to various industries and career opportunities.
